Due to operational improvements and cost efficiencies achieved in the supply chain of Tetrosyl, the company has signed a five year contract extension with logistics specialist Bibby Distribution.
The contract follows a 10 year-strong relationship between the two companies which began when Tetrosyl first trialled Bibby Distribution's services in 2000. Bibby's supply chain expertise impressed Tetrosyl sufficiently for the company to move away from its own in-house transport operation in favour of contracting out all nationwide distribution to one supplier.
Bibby Distribution utilises a fleet of more than 60 vehicular assets on behalf of Tetrosyl, including a mix of 18 tonne rigids, 44 tonne tractor units and both single and double-deck curtainside trailers.
As part of the agreement, Bibby will roll out a new livery across 60 vehicles in its fleet to advertise Tetrosyl's Carlube motor oil brand.
Barry Rennie, Site Manager at Tetrosyl, said: "We have seen cost savings year-on-year across the board and this can only come from a mutual understanding of the business. Importantly, as the market changes, Bibby is able to move with us while maintaining exceptional price and service levels. We see this as part of its core offering."
On-time deliveries form one of the many key performance indicators on which Bibby Distribution is measured and the company reports that it is consistently achieving an on-time rate of 98.5 per cent or above.
"This is a significant step in our relationship with Tetrosyl and demonstrates to us a great faith in the service we offer," said Alan Paterson, Operations Director of Bibby Distribution. "We strive to continuously improve the service we offer and look for ways to deliver cost savings for customers, whether that is via 24 hour deliveries or reverse trunking of other customer's products.
"To stay competitive in our business it's all about adopting the customer's viewpoint, understanding their needs and aligning our strengths to bring mutual benefits to both organisations," he added.
"The extended contract enables us to strategically drive value for the long-term while working closely with Tetrosyl."
Bibby Distribution uses ADR-qualified drivers operating from four strategically located outbases as part of the Tetrosyl agreement. These include sites in Chadderton, Avonmouth, Hoddesdon and Glasgow.
