Bibby Distribution has named John Finn as its new Fleet and Procurement Director based at the company's headquarters in Liverpool.

Finn, who has more than 35 years experience in the industry, joins the company from Yodel - formerly the Home Delivery Network - where he was responsible for the integration of more than 8,000 vehicles following the acquisition of DHL's UK parcel operation.

Finn's remit will encompass strategies to maximise vehicle availability and utilisation, reduce operational fleet costs and manage ‘cradle-to-grave' vehicle assets.

The appointment comes at a time of considerable growth for the company, with more than 1,100 vehicles transferred into the business from the 2010 acquisitions of Taygroup, TM Logistics and major contracts from MRS Distribution.

Finn will also concentrate on reducing the company's impact on the environment, the analysis of fuel and driver trends, securing best value in asset maintenance and implementing more effective performance monitoring.
