Gary Savage - Transport Planner

I started out as a night driver and I moved into this role to have more prospects and it was a bit unsociable working nights, although I do sometimes help out driving at weekends when they are stuck for staff. Having been a driver it gives me a better idea how to plan.

Day to day role

I look after the collections and deliveries for the Integrated Contract Services, liaising with  drivers and making sure stock coming in from various sites arrives on time to meet the cut offs for the vehicles that trunk to the outbases during the night. I also make sure customers are kept informed of delivery times and any delays and ensure drivers are working within their driving times.

What's it like working for Bibby Distribution

It's a good atmosphere, and I have a laugh when I come to work. Every day is a challenge to collect the stock and bring everything in to meet the cut off times for the night trunks, and everything is always changing so the main thing is to react and keep everyone informed.
